Yes, Virginia, the GOP presidential primary race can, possibly get more bizarre.

This whole thing reads like an Onion piece. One thing that struck me as odd was Cruz claiming he’s never shared a conversation with Boehner. Is that something that a Senator should say about someone who served as Speaker during their shared time in Congress? Obviously, Speaker is a member of the House, and Cruz is in the Senate, but I’d still expect them to interact. Maybe not.

I’m not a Cruz fan by any means, but I’ve noticed that articles from that site will almost always read like an Onion piece.

Except that this interview was at Stanford, and originally reported by the Stanford student newspaper. Businessinsider is simply a click-through.

This coming one day after a guy who he’s worked with for years has admitted to molesting children on the regular. Just for perspective.

Trump supporter talks like a Trump supporter.

Seriously. America season 2017 got cancelled so the writers are going nuts with it.

All Business Insider articles seem to read like that lol...I love when they rip into Apple like a better written Sam Biddle article.

There's only one way to settle this: Shad planking.

I completely understand that. I’m just saying BI is a big, stinky, doodoo head with smelly writers. Why not just post and cite the original - and better written - Stanford article?

Trump’s an idiot and may or may not be a hateful old man (I think he just loves the attention), but I don’t think he’s legitimately evil. Cruz is and when someone as embedded in the party and the history of government in the last 25 years as Boehner says something like that, you listen whether you like the guy or not. This is
not
how John Boehner speaks. He’s not a tea partier or a morals Republican. He is a rust belt middle of the road blue-collar America career politician from the 80s and if he finds Cruz that frightening and that dangerous and speaking out like that about the only party alternative to The Donald, it says alot about Cruz. Remember that it was Cruz’s tea partiers who shut the government down when Boehner and Obama were working together.

Better written? You could have just said written. Pretty sure Sam Biddle just vomits onto twitter and lets the outrage take care of the rest.

There’s something that’s just wrong with Cruz. Like, on a basic human level, independent of all politics, there is just something creepy and off about him as a member of this species.
Plus he gives off a super strong child molester vibe.

Because clickbait pays the bills.

The only difference between that and half of congress is that Hassert admitted it yesterday.

Cruz tried to ban dildos. Seriously.

Honestly, that adds no perspective whatsover. Are you suggesting that Boehner intentionally supports child molesters?

Damn. Well said.

Also, if you work with any large group of people, chances are that there’s a sex offender in there somewhere anyway (remember that most assaults don’t get reported, and there are fewer convictions so I’m not talking about sex offender registries here but people who do or have done it). In other words, it’s a pretty poor argument to make. I work in an office with three hundred other people. Some statistics point to as many as (IIRC) one in twenty people being sex offenders. If that’s true, I almost certainly work with them every day as well.

Would require a modicum of effort on my part, but it’s a great idea. Oppo deserves better. Thank you for the suggestion.-

I’m not criticizing YOU. I’m critizing BI. You’re fine. You’re just posting something you saw in a forum-esque community. BI should’ve posted the full Stanford article like most sites do with AP, Reuters, etc.

No, I’m saying that he clearly thinks more highly of a guy who just admitted to child molestation than Ted Cruz.
![]() 04/28/2016 at 14:08 |

I think it’s more of a comment on the institution of American government. Maybe not child molesters
per se
, but a bunch of crooks and power mongers. But I can only speculate and would not speak for Flynorcal, but I might want to drive his M5 sometime...

Not sure if this is tongue-in-cheek, or meant to be a serious insult towards Cruz or Boehner.

Also: well said. Thank you. And to be honest, I wasn’t feeling much better than
that
about Ted Cruz.

That comment about the bathroom was bizarre. I’m no fan of Hillary Clinton, but I do not see how she can lose.

Hassert’s over. Why would he have anything to say about him?
![]() 04/28/2016 at 14:16 |
|
Not meant to be anything negative about Boehner, but I can see how it could be read that way. I also don’t mean it entirely seriously either. It’s not like Boehner made any comparison between Cruz and Hassert either. I’m just observing who he felt repulsed by enough to publicly call him satan, and it wasn’t Hassert.

Yeah, but Hasert’s been out of office for ten years and is going to prison. He doesn’t matter. Cruz is trying to get into the white house.

Thanks for the note. No, I did not think you were criticizing me at all. I could have made Oppo
more excellent
if I’d looked for the source myself. I look at BI a lot and assume that generally, someone there has looked at something reasonably legitimate.
Clickthrough
is a new term for me. Oppo School.

Most of his comments are bizarre. He’s like that really weird sheltered kid in junior high who tries to blend in and act normal in conversations, but can’t, but also doesn’t realize it.
